We’re thrilled to announce that Salford Community Theatre has been awarded Arts Council Funding to capture our 2019 Community Play: The Salford Docker as an audio play. The project will be rehearsed digitally and recorded in a Covid Secure way bringing back the cast and community during this difficult time.

The play will be edited for audio and released by Salford Community Theatre in Summer 2021 with the ambition to also have an exhibition and event for the launch of the play dependent on safety restrictions.

A huge thanks to Arts Council England for supporting our grassroots community theatre project.

The project sees the return of the 2019 production team with Steph Green & Sarah Weston directing the piece, Isaac Rose producing and Samantha Cheadle as company manager. We welcome audio drama & community theatre expert Peter Leslie Wild as a project consultant. The team will also include a creative sound engineer.

We’re really excited to get rehearsing and reuniting our community to retell this important story of Salford’s Industrial Past. Now more than ever, we want to make ambitions, politically charged, creative community theatre and this project will help to spread our work far and wide through the airwaves to celebrate the city, the people & what can be achieved through solidarity.
